Mexico’s Housing Debacle

Mexico’s Housing Debacle

In mexico their are a lot of slum house and nothing has been done to change their living environment. These are people that work just as hard as us and should be living in a area that is up to date neighborhoods not a wreck and destroyed environment. The government was working with private developers to help developer a better place for Mexicans like what reporter Richard Marosi states  new "Global investors — the World Bank, big foundations, Wall Street firms — poured billions of dollars into the effort." This would be great progress for us to help change a person's future with the way they live  but we have to think about the aftermath of this of how people will live after this. I think that we can't because of the problems that we are facing even if that something is needed to change with the amount of money being use so why did the government put such a misleading idea in people head that they will help them. This is a major issue because how would you feel if you had to live in a place like this and you had to live in conditions like this "Homeowners toting buckets scrounge for water delivered by trucks. Gutters run with raw sewage from burst pipes. Streets sink, sidewalks crumble, and broken-down water treatment plants rust. In some developments, blackouts hit for days at a time."(R.Moarosi) Do you think that the government will play a big role in this situation with the devastation Mexicans are going through or will they give false hope ?

  1. Me personally I couldn't handle living in that type of environment, but I feel if I did go through something like this I would have a stronger drive to become something great in life. And I think the government would not do anything because of the simple fact that a private developers to fix the problems and it raises the question of who are them what is there agenda because I feel that the people of Mexico will be taken advantage of.

    1. I agree with you that its hard to believe that the government put the care of your community in somebody's hands and you have no say in what they do it isn't fair. Whatever the situation is nobody should have to live like this and our government shouldn't make ideas and promises that they can't keep.

  2. I certainly feel bad for these people and the fact that they have to live through these conditions. Though, even with the lack of almost everything, it would drive me to work harder and aim for something higher, personally speaking. As for the government stepping in, I don't think our government should HAVE to help Mexico's own people. If our government is being nice, then so be it, but the Mexican government should be the number one supporter of Mexico's population.

  3. America is known for not minding their business when it comes to foreign issues and association, but there's also a biased belief that American citizen's aren't conscious of. This belief is that America is the most heroic country, but yet we can't solve corruption within our own country. That being said, America has to many issues of it's own to deal with before sticking their noses into other Nations economical issues. In reality, America cares for their reputation as "worldwide heroes" more than actually strengthening their own economy so they may just help Mexico, but then again they might not, that is due to the fact that Donald Trump is president. America will give false hope, then purposely, slowly forget about the issue.

  4. Living under those circumstances would be devastating. I personally think that the American government and media often makes it seem as though they are globally conscious and are willing to help, but just as any other story the whole issue will be swept under the rug.

  5. I think that America won't give false hope because Mexico is ne of its own and a majority of their citizens come to the U.S. No one would ever want to live in such conditions just due to how unsanitary it is and how dangerous it is if your raising a family. As for the private developers and the rest of the developers may be kicked out of helping rebuild the homes in the slums. I think this because if the government let them help, the investors may try and do stuff with the land that they had bought and invested in.
