Trump wants to assemble a budget for the upcoming fiscal year that includes sharp increases in defense department spending and drastic enough cuts to domestic agencies that he can keep his promise to leave social security and Medicare alone. Trump will demand a budget with tens of billions of dollars in reductions to the environmentalbum protection agency and Senate department. Personally, I don't know how to feel about this plan. I understand that others may think there are issues that are more important than others but, at the same time, you shouldnt just cut funds for an agency to fund another one that isn't underperforming. I would like to know Trump's reasoning behind his decision because I am confused as to why the defense department spending has to increase. This goes back to the executive order where he put a ban on those countries. He thought he was doing America a favor but what he realized is that he actually hurt many people and separated many families. I believe this plan has the potential to do the same damage. What do you think about this plan? Is it worth it or is there a better way?

The budget for the environment protection agency was 8,139,887 million dollars in 2016. The budget for the department of defense was 523.9 billion in 2016. This is absolutely crazy, as you can clearly see there is a major money gap between those two budgets. So why would you want to take money from the lower budget just to give it to the higher budget. This is infuriating because there are so many things the president can be doing to get a bigger budget for the department of defense. One department that many citizens complain about is the department of education. The budget for the department of education was 68.1 billion dollars(surprising because the teacher salaries don't reflect that). If Trump wants to increase the budget for any department it should be the department of education, that is how you make America great.
ReplyDeletethis is crazy. At first, I didn't notice this was a big issue. It seems like a regular decision to move money around. But after seeing the numbers Jurelle brought into the discussion it makes me question this decision. Could it be because of the importance of the department of defense? I feel like money needs to be able to be distributed better because it won't make sense to improve one category by harming a specific department.
ReplyDeleteI strongly agree with roshard about how investing more into the defense could potentially affect the people. America is one of the strongest powers in the world and its no reason why we should have so many nuclear weapons and it only takes three nuclear bombs to destroy the world. So trump doing all of this to invest in our defense system is stupid because we have many other things that we could pay attention to in this country such as education
ReplyDeleteAlthough the price might increase that will just mean that the money will have to go up for us because I'm assuming that the money he wants to pay for this will no come out of his pocket. I 100% agree with Justin, but there is still a downfall because of that. All the money will ending getting distributed more than others
